Name: November - Edmonton 2020 ACI Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher Certification
Date: November 2, 2020
Time: 8:00 PM - 4:00 PM MST
Registration: Registration closed.
Event Description:

As concrete material and construction science continues to develop, more owners and engineers are beginning to require that the contractor, placing and finishing concrete slabs-on-ground, are certified to do the work.  Why? Because as technology advances, so should the knowledge base of the concrete finisher or contractor!  This is the best way for the builder or engineer to assure that their client will receive what has been specified. This one-day course provides you with the following essential information regarding cast-in-place concrete:

* Basic concrete technology                        * Control join layout

* Proper testing procedures                        * Architectural concrete

* Placement procedures                              * Curing requirements

* Finishing tools                                           * Troubleshooting

New: Certification of finishers under this program is now one of two options to meet the requirements of the 16th Edition of the Albert Transportation Standard Specifications for Bridge Construction. Clause 4.16.5

To qualify for the Flatwork Finisher designation, you must achieve 70% or greater on the examination as well as having 4500 hours of work experience and for the Flatwork Technician designation, you must obtain 70% or greater on the examination with no work experience required. Those that successfully pass the examination will be certified by ACI-International for a five year period.

Due to the current outbreak of Covid-19, this program is split into two sessions for each location. The first day (November 2nd, 2020) will provide all participants from both ends of the province with an online review session of the student workbook and study questions. The review will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Zoom Meeting invitation will be sent to each participant. Therefore each student will need to provide an e-mail address upon registration and have access to a computer and high speed internet to attend the review session on the November 2nd.
