Name: Cancelled - ACI Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher/Concrete Flatwork Associate Certification
Date: April 28, 2020 - April 29, 2020
Registration: Registration closed.
Event Description:

As concrete material and construction science continues to develop, more owners and engineers are beginning to require that the contractor, placing and finishing concrete slabs-on-ground, are certified to do the work.  Why? Because as technology advances, so should the knowledge base of the concrete finisher or contractor!  This is the best way for the builder or engineer to assure that their client will receive what has been specified. This one-day course provides you with the following essential information regarding cast-in-place concrete:

* Basic concrete technology                        * Control join layout

* Proper testing procedures                        * Architectural concrete

* Placement procedures                              * Curing requirements

* Finishing tools                                           * Troubleshooting

New: Certification of finishers under this program is now one of two options to meet the requirements of the 16th Edition of the Albert Transportation Standard Specifications for Bridge Construction. Clause 4.16.5

To qualify for the Flatwork Finisher designation, you must achieve 70% or greater on the examination as well as having 4500 hours of work experience and for the Flatwork Technician designation, you must obtain 70% or greater on the examination with no work experience required. Those that successfully pass the examination will be certified by ACI-International for a five year period.

Due to the current outbreak of Covid-19, this program is offered over a two day period. The first day (April 28th) will consist of an online course review session of the student workbook and study questions. The review will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. A Zoom Meeting invitation will be sent to each participant. Therefore each student will need to provide an e-mail address upon registration and have access to a computer and high speed internet to attend the review session on the April 28th.
The exam will take place at the Glenmore Inn on Wednesday April 29th at 2:00 p.m.

The students will have up to two hours to complete their written exam. The exam room will be accessible by the South West Entrance of the hotel only. The doors will open at 1:45 p.m. and will be locked again at 2:10 p.m. to restrict entrance to the hotel by those not staying there or attending any functions.

Students will be socially distanced to industry standards. Any PPE will be the responsibility of the attendees. The hotel will provide hand sanitizer. Please bring a number 2 or HB pencil and eraser to write your exam. No food or water will be served. You may bring your own bottle of water to the exam. Washrooms will be available. You must bring photo ID to the exam and take a selfie of yourself with the photo ID and be able to text it to the examiner. All photos will be deleted from the examiners phone following the exam.

If you are attending to achieve the "Advance Concrete Flatwork Finisher" designation, please bring your Work Experience or Affidavit forms with you to the course completed and signed so they may be submitted along with your answer sheet from your written exam.
